History of Troop 161

The application for charter for a new troop was completed on May 1, 1936. The Holy Name Society of Holy Guardian Angels' Church was the sponsoring organization. Fr. Frederic Lanshe was the pastor who signed the charter.

There were charters until 1941, but then because of World War II and a lack of scoutmasters there was no other charter until 1946. The form used to restart the troop was "An Application for Neighborhood Patrol" completed by William Webb and was signed by Ed Ott on August 12, 1946.
